Pastor Paul Enenche, Senior Pastor, Dunamis International Gospel Centre
The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Paul Enenche, has explained why he turned down a N30 million donation from Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, during a recent crusade in the state.
Speaking during a Sunday sermon at the church’s Abuja headquarters, Enenche said he has a personal rule not to accept money from the government or politicians.
He said, “For some people, that may be a surprise because they don’t know who we are. But for those who know us, that’s no surprise at all.
“That’s how we’ve lived, and that’s what we’ve stood for.”
Enenche added that this principle is not about Idris personally, but about staying true to his values, which he has followed for over 20 years.
He recalled turning down money after a national trip to Jerusalem with former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014, saying, “By the time we returned, the board chairman brought an offering and said this is their honourarium to me for going. I said no.”
He also mentioned that even when President Jonathan visited his church, there were no money exchanges.
“Government funds are not in this project, not one naira,” he said, referring to the church’s headquarters building.
He said he once rejected a car gift from a childhood friend who became a minister and turned down offers from ex-Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom.
Enenche said, “I don’t want to touch any dime of government money,” explaining that it helps him stay free to speak boldly to those in power. (The PUNCH)
