Orji Uzor Kalu, APC Chieftain
Former Abia State Governor Orji Uzor Kalu yesterday restated that he would lay down his life for the All Progressives Congress (APC), especially in Abia State.
He made the declaration while speaking with reporters at his Igbere country home in Abia State yesterday.
Asked if the APC stood any chance of defeating the Labour Party(LP) during the 2027 general election in Abia State, Kalu, who represents Abia North in the Senate, said he and other APC loyalists would work hard to deliver the President in the state.
His words: “APC is strong in Abia. Like I said in my interview, I am ready to lay down my life for the party. I am a member of the party and a strong one at that. I am APC to the core. That’s why APC is strong in Abia North.
“Our party will work hard to deliver the President in the state. We have done it in the past, and we will do it again in 2027.”
He also spoke on his recent visit to Governor Alex Otti, which the state chapter of the APC distanced itself from.
Kalu, a former chief whip of the Senate, said President Tinubu deserved to be supported by Nigerians because of his achievements in the last two years.
The president’s re-election, according to him, will enable him to complete his laudable projects in the country, especially in the Southeast.
He expressed confidence that the nation’s economy would bounce back because Tinubu is working hard to make the naira regain its value.
He said, “The economy needs time to bounce back. The President is working to ensure that the economy bounces back.”
“Petroleum subsidy was a big scam. No President or governor wants their citizens to suffer. That is the reason the President is doing all he can to ensure that life becomes bearable for Nigerians.
“The President has done well in the last two years. I am urging Nigerians to come together to support the President.”
On his controversial visit to Governor Otti, Kalu said that whatever statement he made was personal as a former governor of the state.
He also claimed that Otti is using his template to govern the state. (The Nation, but headline rejigged)
