Troops of Operation Fasan Yamma (OPFY) have eliminated 10 terrorists in a coordinated offensive targeting terrorist enclaves in Zamfara State.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was conducted on Sunday, June 9, covered identified terrorist strongholds in Mai Tashi and Dan Jigba in Gusau Local Government Area, as well as Munhaye in Tsafe Local Government Area of the state.

The sources said that the troops, advancing from Forward Operating Base Keta at about 0700hrs, cleared Dan Jigba and proceeded to Munhaye where they engaged the terrorists in a fierce firefight.

Following the encounter, 10 terrorists were confirmed killed while a cache of arms and ammunition was recovered. Items recovered included five AK-47 rifles, one Beretta sniper weapon, 16 magazines, 300 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 200 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and two Baofeng radios.

Troops also recovered eight AK-47 wooden rifle butts and destroyed five motorcycles belonging to the terrorists at the scene.

Security sources noted that the successful operation has further degraded terrorist operational capability in the area. (Zagazola)
