The wife of Bassey Akabom, a staff member of the Cross River State Ministry of Housing’s Mortgage Finance department, has expressed concern over her husband’s disappearance.
Cynthia Ironbar-Akabom revealed that her husband went missing on February 21, 2025, after leaving for work.
According to Akabom, her husband told her in their last telephone conversation that he was being detained at the office by two individuals. Despite efforts to locate him, his whereabouts remain unknown. The family has visited his office, the State CID, and the DSS office, but to no avail.
The family has petitioned the Special Adviser to the Cross River State Governor on Intelligence Matters, appealing for intervention.
The family, in a letter dated April 28, 2025, and addressed to the Special Adviser, Intelligence/State Planning Service Commission, urged the state and federal governments to help locate Akabom. The letter, signed by Ekanem Cobham (JP) and Cynthia Ironbar-Akabom, expressed concern over Akabom’s disappearance and appealed for government assistance.
Director, Department of State Services (DSS) in Cross River state, Roselyn Izuagbe, said “We have many people working on different operations. Maybe you can give me some time to find out,” she said.
The family is seeking the government’s help in locating Akabom and determining the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. (Daily Sun)
