I am not dead —Agbazuere

Special Assistant to Abia State Governor on Conflict Management, Chief ACB Agbazuere, has dispelled rumours of his death which hit the state like a cyclone in the last couple of days, accusing originators of the malicious rumour of plotting to eliminate him.

The former Commissioner for Information had travelled to the United States of America to attend the Ngwa National Association Convention held at Hyatt Regency at the Arch in St. Louis in Missouri.

The dynamic human rights crusader and pragmatic labour leader was still in the USA when news of his purported death took Abia by storm. The story being peddled was that Agbazuere was involved in a ghastly auto accident on his way to Lagos and died.

News Express reorts that because of Agbazuere's popularity as a result of his rising political profile and being a prominent Ngwa son, the rumour engulfed Abia like petrol fire. The Ngwa political bloc is expected to produce the next governor of the state in 2015.

However, the “dead man” cut short his stay in the United States and breezed into Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, today and quickly addressed the press in his frantic bid to put the spiralling rumour out of circulation.

Agbazuere said he has been inundated with enquiries, visitations and telephone calls from across the globe because of the rumour.

“This is not the first time this malicious mischief is being hatched and spread against me except that the false news this time has spread like wild hurricane to all parts of the world,” he said.

The founder of Oweh Dynasty added: “I am aware that this is the handiwork of mischief makers and my political opponents who feel threatened by my rising political profile and the strategic roles I play in the present administration in Abia State.

“What is, however, worrisome is what the originators of the devastating rumour set out to achieve. Granted that no one is insulated from death, spreading such falsehood may not even be forgiven by the Holy Spirit.”

He said he holds no grudge against anyone but warned those plotting against him to, “in the name of God, repent urgently” saying “the battle is not mine.”

Agbazuere expressed gratitude to God for His grace upon his life and thanked all who have joined him in “drinking from the cup of pains and emotional trauma orchestrated by this mischief.”
