African Action Congress (AAC) party, Oyo state chapter has demanded the release of 12 protesters who were arrested after protesting against the demolition of their properties by the state government.
In a statement signed by AAC chairman in Oyo state, Kayode Babayomi noted that the protesters protested against the demolition of their properties in Ibadan.
The party threatened to embark on mass protest if the detained protesters were not released within 24 hours.
?The African Action Congress (AAC), Oyo state chapter is condemning the arrest and detention of 12 Oyo state citizens who protested against the demolition of their properties by the state government.
?We demand their immediate release. It is utterly disgraceful to punish individuals for expressing their rightful dissatisfaction. To beat a child and then imprison them for crying is the lowest form of dehumanization.
?The citizens are awake to the truth and are prepared to rise against the injustices inflicted by the PDP government.
?We in the AAC stand in solidarity with the good people of Oyo, as we demand the immediate release of the innocent landowners within 24 hours or the residents of Oyo will take to the streets in mass protest.
?We urge all affected families to remain resolute in this fight. We are united in our struggle, and we will not rest until justice is served,? the statement read. (Nigerian Tribune)
