The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has disassociated itself from claims of a purported ?40 million mortgage pre-financing scheme involving HXAFRICA and the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria.
In a disclaimer issued on Friday, NiDCOM stated that any official announcement regarding Diaspora Mortgage pre-financing would be made jointly with the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria.
The statement, signed by Mr. Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols, described the circulating post as false and fraudulent.
The statement titled: “RE: 40 MILLION DIASPORA MORTGAGE PRE-FINANCING (DMPF) BY HXAFRICA & FEDERAL MORTGAGE BANK OF NIGERIA” reads: “This is to warn members of the public that the above post, is totally false and fraudulent.
“Any announcement on the Diaspora Mortgage Pre-financing will be announced by both the FMBN and NIDCOM on the websites and social media handles of both agencies.
“While the company has applied to be part of the proposed programme, it has not been granted any approval.
“To ensure the protection of potential beneficiaries of the Diaspora mortgage scheme, both agencies are at the final stage of concluding arrangements with the CBN.
“Please beware of fraudsters and await genuine information from only the FMBN or NIDCOM or both,” the statement added. (The Nation)
