Embattled ex-Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State
Coalition of support groups within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has urgedPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the faceoff between former Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of financial misdeeds .
The groups stated that their call is premised on the fact that Bello has worked for the progress of the APC.
In a joint statement, the coalition stated that former Governor Bello has continued to be persecuted unduly by the EFCC which is acting on a script by some shadowy groups working against the party and the re-election of President Tinubu?s second term.
The joint statement was issued by the Coordinator of the APC Youths Connect (APCYC), Mr. Victor Odunlana and Chairman, APC Unity Mandate (APCUM) Malam Musa Kassim Bello.
Bello said the allegations should not warrant the daily EFCC drama to seek attention.
In the statement, the groups stated that there must be equity on the part of the EFCC in its fight against graft and not to be selective as it is currently being done by the agency.
?We as concerned Nigerians and civil society groups are saddened by the fact that the EFCC has whittled down the fight against graft. (The nation)
