Members of Osun NURTW
The leadership and members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Osun chapter, have vowed to vote out Governor Ademola Adeleke in 2026.
They hinged their decision on the fact that Adeleke sacked members from operating when he assumed office and replaced them with the Park Manager system.
Osun Acting NURTW chairman, Alhaji Kazeem Oyewale, spoke during the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting at the Owa Obokun palace hall, Ilesa on Thursday.
While addressing newsmen, he noted that NURTW is apolitical union amidst report that its ex-chair, Folorunso Salami joined a political party with members of the union.
Oyewale said: ?I feel compelled to address the recent reports concerning the former Osun NURTW Chairman, Chief Olalekan Folorunsho, who allegedly switched political affiliations and purportedly led union members to follow suit. It is imperative to clarify that NURTW is a non-partisan union that unites law-abiding citizens working in the road transport sector.
?The Osun Council of NURTW has no involvement in the former Chairman?s political transition, and it is crucial to emphasize that our union remains apolitical.?
He added that, ?those who are suffering in this government of Adeleke are many and our members are part of them because he sacked them when he assumed office in 2022.
?There is no gainsaying, anybody who sees to sacking of people, one needs to work assiduously to ensure that he gets sacked. Our members are fully ready to ensure that we sack Adeleke while seeking re-election in 2026.? (The Nation)
