Emir of Lafia Retired Justice Mohammed Sidi Bage has expressed his total support of the recent Supreme Court Judgement granting autonomy to Local governments in the country as well as called for direct 5 percent allocation to Traditional institutions to enable Royal father?s carryout their functions.
The Emir who made the call Monday when the Nasarawa state House of Assembly House Standing committee on Local government community Development and chieftaincy affairs received memorandum on a Bill for a law to repeal and enact the establishment, structure, composition, finance and functions of local government system.
Justice Bage further emphasized that there was the need for adequate funding for LGs inorder to enable local government Authorities discharge their responsibilities with ease.
The Royal father also commended the Nasarawa State Governor Engr Abdullahi Sule for being the first governor to welcome the Supreme Court Judgement; saying that such would bringrapid development closer tothe grassroots.
He however urged the citizens of the state to give the governor maximum support as well as thanked State House Assembly members for their actions; urging that they should come out with resolutions that will bring development and peace to the state and the Nation as a whole.
