Governor Sanwo-Olu and others during a tour of the Bombata market
The Lagos State government, through the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), has issued a final eviction notice to occupants of Bombata Market due to environmental hazards caused by the deplorable state of the area.
In a video posted on the agency?s official X page, LASBCA General Manager, Gbolahan Oki, announced the warning during a visit to the market. This decision follows several prior notices given to the occupants.
Oki explained that no government would tolerate seeing any part of its region in such a poor condition, which is why the area will be redeveloped.
He also noted that the market has become a hideout for illegal activities, which cannot be allowed to continue.
He reiterated that the deadline for all occupants to vacate the premises is October 31, 2024, and warned that anyone found in the area after the deadline would face arrest.
Recall that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu ordered the demolition of Bombata and Jankara Markets last October as part of the government?s urban renewal and flood-control projects for the area. (Nigerian Tribune)
