The Federal Government through the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) has conducted Computer Based Test (CBT) Confirmation and Promotion (COMPRO) Examination for 13,993 senior public servants nationwide.

Addressing newsmen, shortly after monitoring the conduct of the 2024 CBT at Ansar-ud-deen International School, Maitama, Abuja, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, explained that public servants must scale through the Computer Based Test (CBT) Confirmation and Promotion (COMPRO) Examination before they would be confirmed in the Public Service.

Walson-Jack noted that the initiative was part of the process in the implementation of one of the pillars of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025, which is digitalisation.

She thanked the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board(JAMB) for providing technical assistance and CBT facilities at the Centres.

She said: ?I am here to supervise what is going on. I have gone round the Centre and I can see that it is a full house.

?We have a very good number of people writing the examination. There are few technical hitches but those hitches have been resolved.

?I would like to use this opportunity to appreciate JAMB, who is our partner in conducting this examination. We look forward to having a seamless second batch, as the first batch is almost over.?

The Head of Civil Service of the Federation underscored the need for all public servants to embrace digitalisation, aimed at improving service delivery to the citizenry.

She pointed out that her office has lined up several capacity building workshops on Information Communication Technology, (ICT) for civil servants, ahead of subsequent CBT promotion and confirmation exams.

According to her, ?As you all know, under the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan, digitalisation is one of the reforms, that is ongoing.

?So, we are coming up with a lot of training on ICT training, which we believe that it will help the workers as we go along with the CBT.

?You will recall that this exam used to be a written one. But recently, we made it a computer-based.

?So, it is expected that as we go along, we will encourage civil servants, public servants to begin to take Information Technology and digitalisation very seriously.

?Because the test is computer-based, and they need to be IT savvy to pass the test.?

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office (CMO)-OHCSF, Mrs. Fatima Mahmood, described the management and administration of the CBT COMPRO examination for the senior category of public servants as a huge success, despite the technical hitches experienced in some of the centres nationwide.

She also commended the comportment of the candidates for their cooperation in making the process run smoothly.

In Abuja, no fewer than 2,573 public servants sat for the annual COMPRO exercise for 2024 senior category of public servants in various Centres in the Federal Capital Territory. (Daily Independent)
