Comrade Garba Muhammad, Frontline Presidential aspirant of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has eulogised veteran journalist Jola Ogunlusi as he celebrates his 90thbirthday in Lagos.

Comrade Muhammad described his role towards capacity building and enhancement of journalists and journalism profession in Nigeria as commendable, even when the terrain was unworkable especially under the then military regime.

He said with respect to professionalism, ethical conduct and curbing quacks from maligning the journalism institution, elder statesman and veteran journalist Chief Jola Ogunlusi, recorded remarkable achievements, as the first National Secretary of our great Union

“His roles and actions were immeasurable, particularly during his tenure as the Secretary; Nigeria Press Organization (NPO) and Board Member of the Nigeria Institute of Journalism (NIJ) in Ogba, Lagos, and a significant stance they took in ensuring that the profession wasn’t for all comers and that every holder of the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ) were professionals.

“We are delighted and appreciate God as you to celebrate this special day.

“We want to let you know how much we value your contributions and most of all thank you for making the profession amiable and respected.

“We promise to, as a matter of fact bring back the glorious days of true journalism when elected into office.

“The attainment of 90 years shows how much you have impacted on colleagues, your birthday calls for celebration and appreciation of God’s faithfulness in your life and your purpose here on earth”, Muhammad added.
