Nigerian presidential jet
The seizure of three Nigerian presidential jets in France has led to significant confusion and embarrassment due to a legal dispute involving the Ogun State government and the Chinese company Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Ltd.
The conflict centres around a $74.5 million debt owed by Ogun State to Zhongshan, which arose from a legal battle over a breach of contract related to an export processing zone management agreement.
The Nigerian government and the Presidency have accused Zhongshan of attempting to seize national assets through fraudulent means.
In response, the Ogun State government has expressed regret over the incident and is taking legal action to resolve the matter.
The situation has sparked widespread criticism and discussion about the Nigerian government’s transparency and accountability. It has also triggered reactions from Nigerians.
Here are some notable reactions:
@DailyJusticeAct: “Some believe they can manipulate foreign courts as easily as they do in Nigeria. The nature of justice in Paris is vastly different from the Nigerian judiciary. The jets remain seized until further notice.”
@trendwithola: “The Ogun State government and the Tinubu-led Federal Government are chronic debtors. The APC’s incompetence is evident.”
@firstladyship: “The Ogun State Government is tarnishing Nigeria’s image in France. This situation is a mess.”
@dunua: “They underestimated the French judiciary. This isn’t the same as dealing with a Nigerian company and judiciary.”
@thatbobpr: Wow! No good news about Nigeria since APC don take over
@ezechukwumicha4: The Nigerian government won’t learn a lesson, there are too many hidden Truth and fraud embezzlement but it is not the business of the house of representatives and senators but the national anthem.
@Mykoladoo: Why having 3 ? You can only imagine how much is being spent on maintenance servicing and parking.
@Chimacoeche: This is an embarrassment to the nation of Nigeria, the APC-led administration even lied about it in order to purchase another jet. Highly shameful!
@RealKingSimba11: When the politicians have zero regard for its people they end up isolating themselves which leads to other nations treating every Nigerian with Total disdain including the said politicians.
@Nwojiegbe: What a shame, Germany borrowed Nigeria bicycle during the Olympics, now France seized 3 presidential jets. Maybe they’re paying for the bike with 3 jets. (Nigerian Tribune)
