Wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo
By PAMELA EBOH, Awka
The wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has described the privilege of life as a reason to embark on good deeds that leave lasting impacts on humanity.
Speaking at an event to mark her 54thbirthday, Mrs Soludo explained that each chapter of her life is a reflection of God’s immense grace which ought to be celebrated in a way that shows appreciation and testimony.
She said that the most significant message of her birthday celebration is to teach people the essence of love and friendship, urging people that have celebrated her to live in line with the ideology that a society devoid of love is at war with itself.
The First Lady also harped on the importance of owning household gardens, saying that the only way to beat current food crisis and rising killer diseases is to embrace agriculture in the most organic practice.
Mrs. Soludo used the occasion to offer free medical check-up to no fewer than five thousand less privileged people, including widows and widowers, as well as free medical check-ups, bags of rice, beans and gallons of oil, wheelchair.
She added: “I promise to continue to use my existence to bring greater social change on our society.”
In their separate goodwill messages, the Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South, Mrs Amaka Obi, the Executive Chairman of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), Dr. Vera Nwadinobi, among others, spoke about how the governor’s wife has used her life of kindness, humility and selflessness to change the world around her.
They extended their prayers for God’s blessings and grace.
Highlight of the event was the distribution of one thousand packs of hybrid seeds to support Mrs. Soludo’s ongoing free seeds programme and garden campaign.
Dignitaries at the event include the Head of Civil Service in Anambra, Barrister Theodore Igwegbe, Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Tonnycollins Nwabunwanne, the Anambra State Women Leader of APGA, Mrs Esther Onyekesi, among others.
