A foodstuffs tycoon in Lafia, capital of Nasarawa State, Alhaji Shuaibu Yusufu, has cut down the prices of foodstufs such as ricefrom N2,000 to N1,200 in order to enable the poor masses buy the commodityduring this period of hardship and food scarcity in the country.

Alhaji Shuaibu stated this during the maiden sales of the commodity in Lafia Town on Sunday, adding that over 20 TrailerTrucks of Rice would be distributed to the 13 Local government councils of the state as part of effort to make.

Food availableand affordable in the market across the state as well as he appealed to wealthy individuals in the country to always device means of adding value to the society through help.

“It is pertinent for the rich people in the society to assist the less privileged ones have a relief from this hardship by gaining access to food items in the market. My desire to cut down the price of rice was to let the common man on the streetalso benefit from what the Almighty God has blessed me on Earth and theneed to help others,” he said.

Alhaji Shuaibu further frowned at the manner in which some food stuffs traders hike prices of food items in the market unecessarily on daily basis with the selfish aim of maximizing profit and making life unbearable for the poor masses in the society.

He also urged government at all levels to partner private foodstuffs businessmen inorder to fashion ways of reducing the hardship by supplying adequate food items into the Nation’s .markets at a subsidized rates ,; saying that doing so would swiftly curtail the current food scarcity and hike in prices of food items across the country.

Alhaji Shuaibu whoalso admonished Businessmenand well to do individuals to have a rethink and have the fear of God in their hearts by making frantic effort towards transforming the lives of Nigerians from poverty level ; lamenting that there is tremendous hunger in the land where many Households are extremely affected directly or indirectly with the difficulties .
