The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Nasarawa State Chapter has cautioned its members not to participate in the proposed planned protest against the present administration of President Bola Tinubu, cautioning that protest always come with negative consequences in Nigeria.

The state CAN chairman Very Reverend Dr Sunday Emma who made the decision of CAN in Nasarawa known in interview with newsmen in Avgyaragu Town of Lafia Local Government council on Saturday;noting that despite there is hunger in the land, it does not amount going out to protest .

According to him’ the truth is that the Nigeria youths and even the aged are in a severe difficult situation today. We have all kinds of insecurity. However, it does not amount us going out for protest or riot because the name may be different but some of these actions can cause crisis which can lead to loss of lives and the destruction of properties “.

He added that" my appeal to Christians and non-Christians – is to take solace in God and be patience as well as bear with the situation because t is a temporary situation. We have seen leaders such as Presidents, Governors, Traditional Rulers who have come and gone”.

Dr Sunday further charged government at all levels to be responsive, adding that there are some leaders that are responsive that are helping the masses, but they should do more, maintaining that Nasarawa state Governor Abdullahi Sule has done a lot through his kind gesture towards providing assistance such Rice, sorghum, Fertilizer etc to the people.

The state CAN leader however urged the Federal government to have a rethink on the Fuel Subsidy removal which he said has constituted the hardship being faced today.

Also in his sermon, the Reverend in charge of ERCC Church Murya Agyaragu very Reverend Mathew Zengina, who called on the Federal and state governments to create Job opportunities for the youths as well as address the plights of the aged in the society.

“ Government should come up with policies and programmes that would improve the living standard of Nigerians as well as urged Christians to pray for the country and Nigerians should rally round President Tinubu to succeed

Earlier, APC youth and councillorship Aspirant Gidan Hausa ward Argyaragu Mr Solomon Tanko called on Nigeria youths not to allow themselves to be used as agent of protest by some selfish politicians as according to him, “We have no country elsewhere than Nigeria. Let us give our leaders some chance than going into nationwide protest at this moment looking at what is happening in Keyan today is regrettable.”
