Anambra CP Itam addressing the media Friday

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnage Obono Itam, on Friday said that the Command has arrested 200 suspects in the past two months.
Making the revelation during his maiden press briefing at the Police Command Headquarters in Amawbia, Itam expressed gratitude to the Almighty God and the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for the opportunity to serve as the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State.
While providing updates on the Command’s law and order activities and achievements in the fight against crime in the state, the Commissioner revealed that the arrests were made possible through the efforts of the Command’s tactical teams, saying that he had been working tirelessly to combat crime and ensure peace and security in the state.
According to him, the suspects were arrested for various crimes, which include, armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, and drug trafficking.
He further highlighted the Command’s successes in recovering weapons and vehicles from the suspects, including 20 AK-47 rifles, 50 pump-action guns, and 10 vehicles.
Itam in assuring the public that the Police would continue to work hard to ensure the state remains safe and secure place for all, used the occasion to announce the launch of a new initiative aimed at tackling drug abuse and trafficking in the state.
He appealed to the public to continue to support the Police in their efforts to combat crime and maintain peace in the state.
The CP further thanked the state government, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders for their support and collaboration.
