Men of the Katsina State Police Command have foiled a bandits’ attack on Kwata quarters in Jibia LGA of Katsina State, rescuing three kidnapped women and a six-month-old baby.

ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the state Command’s spokesperson disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Katsina on Sunday.

According to the statement, on 16 June, 2024 at about 0415 hrs, a distress call was received at Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters that armed bandits in their numbers, armed with dangerous weapons, attacked area in Jibia LGA and kidnapped three women and a six-month-old infant.

Upon receipt of the report, it added that, the DPO Jibia mobilised and led a team of operatives to the scene where they engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, foiling the kidnap attempt.

He stressed that, during the rescue operation, the team successfully rescued all kidnapped victims unhurt, while efforts are being intensified to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspects.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, in his remarks, commended the bravery and quick response of the officers, reiterating the commitment of the command towards protecting the lives and property of the good people of the state. (Daily Independent)
