Analysts have warned President Bola Tinubu to move fast in address­ing the deplorable con­ditions of Nigerians as cost of living becomes untamable.

Speaking exclusively with Sunday Independent, the ana­lysts said Nigerians were going through a period of pessimism and loss of faith in government due to the excruciating hardship and pains they have been going through since the inception of the administration.

They maintained that the president and his team need to re-plan as their policies had not been working.

Chief Emeka Charles Kalu, an engineer and international businessman, one of those who spoke to Sunday Independent, stressed: “Presently, Nigeria is grossly undergoing terrible eco­nomic deadlock as a result of the fuel subsidy regime changes that among other things aggravated inflation rise in the country.”

Kalu, President of the Eck Foundation, added: “The Tinu­bu administration has not come clean to address and tell Nige­rians the truth about the petrol subsidy removal whose negative impacts have crumbled the na­tional economy.

“Since its inception, the Ahmed Bola Tinubu adminis­tration has been battling with a cocktail of trials and error in the form of economic policies, with no defined fundamental struc­ture to revamp the system.

“To drive the nail in, the atti­tude of the government in the on­going national minimum wage negotiations between it and the Organised Labour confirms the insincerity of the government in logically addressing the chal­lenges plaguing the affairs of the nation.

“This actually made me to align with the intelligent sub­mission of Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate that the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government is not honest about fuel subsidy regime, asserting that available documents testified that the government still pays subsidy secretly.

“The government’s imme­diate economic policy upon in­auguration met the people with utmost state of despair, lack and penury.

“The International Monetary Fund (IMF) , on its discretion, confirmed that Nigeria still pays petrol subsidies to the ignorance of the citizens.

“In this regard, we are made to know that the government was intentional in its act of insincer­ity in dealing with the economy as she continues to confidentially finance the downstream oil sec­tor without clearly putting Nige­rians in the know.

“We cannot boast of a bal­anced economic system when the government is clandestinely operating on the pedestal of de­ception and cluelessness.

“Verified intelligence reports affirmed that Nigeria has a cur­rent account balance of $1.34bil­lion with IMF, which if the sys­tem is robustly galvanised and properly coordinated, we were supposed to have attained 60% savings of the current balance at hands.

“In all, I recommend that President Tinubu and his cabi­net pause and have a rethink on how best to replan and boast the crumbling economy.

“The government is expected to focus on economic diversi­fication through sustained in­vestment links with the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) so as to attract lofty heights in speedy infrastructural development ef­ficiency.

“Not only these, but also plan­ning to shift from the concept of arbitrary award of contracts, increase in electricity tariff and embrace industrial, youth and agricultural empowerment which are the bedrock of the fourth industrial revolution.

“Aviation sector reconsol­idation, education system re­forms and wider investment in artificial intelligence through smart and hybrid computing and electronic technology in­vestment consciousness, when actualised will go a long way in advancing the nation’s economy and thoroughly free her from the shackles of under development, socio- political inefficiency and senseless diversion of public funds.”

Ambassador Kalu Ofon Em­manuel, lamented that Nigeria has been going through a ver­tical period of vicissitudes of predicaments, despondency and pessimism, leading to gross loss of faith in government of Presi­dent Tinubu, which he said is the worst administration ever since the inception of a country.

Dr Emmanuel, the Lagos State Chapter President, lnterna­tional Human Rights Protection Service Naples, Florida, USA, stressed: “I thought by now the common Nigerian would have comfortably and conveniently gone to the market to buy things, especially foodstuff at a very cheap rate to sustain the family; but reverse has remained the or­der of the day.

“The only solution to cush­ion the effects of suffering in the country is for President Tinubu to put himself in the shoes of the common Nigerians who cannot afford a one square meal a day.

“The government should in­vest heavily in agriculture and security of lives and properties. When the bandits are busy killing farmers and prohibiting them from going to farm for fear of be­ing killed, raped, and molested, it becomes difficult to have farm produce.

“Let there be total stop to cattle rearers taking their cows to destroy farmer’s crops. These have contributed greatly to food shortages.

“Those that should fight corruption should be corrup­tion-free. Crime fighters should be crime-free to stop money laun­dering.

“Nigeria is well blessed with all the amenities capable of sus­taining all Nigerians, but mis­management has grounded the economy.

“Let President Tinubu be will­ing to implement suggestions and advice from experts. He should surround himself with people with good creative thinking, ideas, and solution solving abil­ities to take Nigeria out of the suffocating valley of suffering of death.” (Sunday Independent)
