Scene of the tragic accident scene
A driver of a Mercedes Benz Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and two passengers were reportedly burned to death in Lagos after crashing into a stationary truck on Sunday night.
The Incident which is said to have occurred at the Mandilas Bus Stop in Iyana Isolo, off the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway claimed the lives of three individuals.
Mr Abdulfatai Wasiu, an eyewitness, said the fatalities were caused by the vehicle exceeding the speed limit before colliding with the truck.
A male adult Inside the car was severely burned and died as a result of the incident.
Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, permanent secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA), confirmed the occurrence.
“Upon arrival at the scene at 11:38 pm, an accident involving a Mercedes Benz SUV with an unknown registration number and a truck conveying a 40-foot container was encountered.
“Preliminary investigation carried out upon arrival at the scene revealed that the SUV collided with the truck due to overspeeding.
“The impact of this collision resulted in a fire outbreak from the car engine,” Oke-Osanyitolu narrated. (New Telegraph)
