Curtain falls on Premier League as Man City, Arsenal battle for title

Pep Guardiola, Mikel Arteta

It will be an exciting finale to the Premier League season today as Manchester City will have the chance to make history by retaining their title on the final day. They will face West Ham United at home, and the Hammers will surely give it their all to spoil Citys celebration.

Manchester City has been in incredible form, going on a 22-game unbeaten run with 18 wins and only 4 draws in the past five months.

With just one game left, City sits at the top of the table with 88 points, two points ahead of Arsenal, who will be facing Everton in their final fixture.

Its been an Impressive winning streak for City, and their recent victory against Tottenham Hotspur, with Erling Haaland scoring twice, has kept the title race in their hands.

In the same vein, Arsenal equally has the chance to become the champions of the Premier League after 20 years, but they will be relying on Manchester City to drop points against West Ham United.

Even though the title race is challenging, Arsenal can take solace in their slightly better goal difference. If they win against Everton and Manchester City draws against West Ham, Arsenal would be crowned champions. Interestingly, Arsenals iconic 1988“89 team was the last to win the top flight after starting the final day in a position below first place.

Arsenals recent 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford kept them momentarily at the top of the league table. However, Manchester City took advantage of their match in hand. But unlike the previous season, Arsenal has shown great progress under Mikel Arteta, both technically and mentally, by taking the title race down to the wire.

Arsenal has won their last five Premier League matches, including the victory over Manchester United. They have kept clean sheets in four of those matches, showcasing a strong defence. Even if they miss out on the top prize, Arsenal should end the season with the best defensive record in England.

As Arsenal fans eagerly watch their team and anxiously check their phones today, Everton poses the final challenge. Everton has been in good form, with a five-game unbeaten streak that includes 13 points out of a possible 15. (Daily Trust)
