Newly appointedHead coach of theSuper Eagles, Finidi George, is expected to releasehissquad fornext months FIFA World Cup 26 double headeragainst South Africa and Republic of Beninnext week.

Appointedlate last monthassuccessor to the departed Portuguese coach Jose Peseiroafter serving briefly as the national teams interimcoach in two friendlyagainst Ghana and Mali, Georgehas beenholdingcrucialmeetingsover the last few daysin order to sort out the issue ofhis assistantsas well as playersto prosecutethe upcomingWorld Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria have secured onlytwo pointsfrom their opening two matchesfollowing an identical 1-1drawat home against Lesothoand away to Zimbabwe last November. With the Super Eagles trailing in third position behindRwanda (four points) and South Africa (three points),the former Ajax Amsterdam winger is expectedto name astrong squadfor next round of matches.

Barring any last minutechanges, the Super Eagles forthe world Cup qualifiersshould be released next week,a reliable source at the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) said.

Georgesfirst set of call up as Super Eagles would certainlyinclude the usual suspectsincludingthe likes ofVictor Osimhen,Lookman Ademola , Samuel Chukwueze, Victor Boniface , Alex Iwobi, Kenneth Omeruo, goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali amongst others.

Already, the 52-year-old George has already proposed afive-man technical crewincludingthreeforeigners as well ascurrent goalkeepertrainer Abideen Baruwaand former internationalDaniel Amokachi who is being touted as a second assistant. (The Nation)
