The Board of Trustees of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has directed all financial institutions including banks, across the country to stop with immediate effect, every transaction on any account with the name of the party; NNPP except the Original Certificate of Registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is produced and presented to the scheduled officers.
The party said this is to forestall activities of fraudsters and unauthorised persons who are illegally using the photocopies of the Certificate of Registration to operate illegal bank accounts.
NNPPin a release signed by its National Secretary, Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday and made available to newsmen at the weekend, said the party recognized the fact that the original Certificate of Registration is the prerequisite for the opening and operations of Bank Accounts and financial transactions, therefore, ordered immediate stoppage of any banking transaction with the name of the party.
Oginni said the Board of Trustees as part of its efforts to deal with fraudsters who have infiltrated the party, called for the cooperation of all Commercial Banks and financial institutions in this regard as EFCC has also been duly informed of the nefarious activities of these fraudsters pretending to be NNPP’s officers.
He said, “Therefore, the managing directors of the various financial institutions should excuse themselves from any embarrassing moment with government agents who may regard them as conspirators in financial crime.”
Oginni, however, noted that payments into the accounts are allowed, but withdrawal is restricted. (Vanguard)
