One person has been shot dead in a clash between operatives of theOndo StateSecurity Network codenamed Amotekun Corps and some suspected cultists at Igbokada, headquarters of Ilaje local government area.

The deceased was identified as Okunneye Sunday Iseoluwa popularly known as Soldier Boy.

It was gathered that Amotekun operatives stormed a joint after a girl who was raped and robbed at Igbokoda identified her attackers at the joint.

Sources said it was an attempt to arrest the suspect, Moshood Kazeem that suspected cultists attacked the Amotekun operatives.

Three suspected cultists and one Amotekun officer who sustained injuries were said to have been admitted to a hospital in Igbokoda.

Commander of Ondo Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, said four of his operatives were tied, maligned, and inflicted bodily injuries with cutlasses.

“On the 7th of April, a lady reported that she was robbed, raped, and maligned in Igbokoda. By the time our men got to the scene, they had all run away. We placed them on surveillance. Yesterday, she came to the office to report that she had seen one of them and she would want them apprehended.

“We swung into action and went to a joint that is noted for such activities in Igbokoda. Just immediately our men came out they were attacked. Our men responded and we were able to apprehend two suspects who led us to the houses of seven others.

“A thorough search of the house of the main suspect, Moshood Kazeem, led to retrieval of the victim’s phone. He confessed that they had shared the money.We were able to recover one of the locally-made pistols with live ammunition, cutlasses, charms, and a number of other things. We want to correct the impression being created that Amotekun went to attack youths.

“We have issues with cultists creating nefarious activities around Igbokoda and luckily we have been able to arrest the suspects,” he said.

The victim, aged 23, said she was raped in an uncompleted building.

She said she recognized Moshood because he was the only one that raped her.

Moshood said he used scissors to commit the crime. (The Nation)
