The main opposition Labour Party is preparing to resolve internal conflicts in the party. Towards this end the party’s Security, Peace and Conflict Reconciliation Committee has fixed April 30 for an all-inclusive stakeholders meeting committee to address pressing issues within the party.
Addressing newsmen at the weekend in Abuja, the chairman of the committee and former Labour Party gubernatorial aspirant, Charles Ugomuoh, stated that the committee has outlined key resolutions aimed at promoting harmony and preparing for the upcoming elections.
Ugomuoh urged an all-inclusive stakeholders’ meeting scheduled for April 30, 2024, at the Nicon Luxury Hotel.
He said the meeting aims to facilitate dialogue among party members and expedite conflict resolution.
However, he called on Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), to spearhead the stakeholders’ meeting to ensure effective resolution of conflicts.
Ugomuoh said there would be vigorous consultations undertaken with all stakeholders of the party, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), gubernatorial candidates, members of the House of Representatives, and the National Working Committee, to ensure broad participation and representation.
He emphasised the significance of the upcoming meeting in providing a platform for all party organs to express their views and reconcile differences for the collective advancement of the Labour Party.
He stressed that the roundtable conference is poised to facilitate inclusivity and expedite the resolution of conflicts, paving the way for a united and stronger Labor Party as the nation prepares for pivotal elections.(Text, excluding headline: Daily Sun)
