Over 1,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at Ndufu Alike ward in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Receiving the defectors at Ndufu Alike junction, the member representing Ikwo/ Ezza-South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Chinedu Ogah, commended their move into the ruling party.
He appreciated the leaders of the party in the ward for their roles and commitment in the party.
The lawmaker assured the defectors of inclusiveness in the party and urged the people of Ndufu Alike ward to continue to support the good administration of Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon.Francis Nwifuru.
In their separate speeches, some of the defectors from PDP and LP described their former party as a thing of the past, unstable organization and weak in the state.
They promised to work hard to give the party forceful weight at the grassroots at all time.
Present during the defection included; Hon. Uchenna Nwanchor, the party's ward Chairman, Hon. Osita Ogidi Ali; the Coordinator, Apostle Emmanuel Mbam; the Ward Councillor, Hon. Sunday Nworie; the Women leader, Nweke Elizabeth, amongst others.
