PSG offer Osimhen €13m annual salary

In-demand striker Osimhen

Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen, is close to joining French giants Paris Saint-Germain from Napoli for a fee of €120 million and according to Italian publication, Il Matino, he is set for a bumper salary raise, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Osimhen, who joined Napoli from Lille in 2020, signed a new contract in December that earns him a monthly salary of £1.29m (€1.5m), almost doubling his previous earnings.

The Nigeria international who has a £113m release clause in his contract at Napoli has unsurprisingly caught the attention of several top clubs across Europe after scoring 31 goals in 39 appearances last season, netting 14 in 26 games this term as well.

According to reports from Italian outlet Il Mattino, negotiations between Napoli and PSG are reaching an advanced stage, indicating Osimhens imminent transfer to the French capital.

Il Matino confidently state that the Nigerian is on the verge of signing for PSG, where the man from Lagos is set to earn a salary of €13m (£11.1m) after signing the four-year deal currently sitting on the table.

This latest move from PSG comes after their 3-2 loss to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg and the board at the Parc des Princes have decided to act fast.

Premier League sides Arsenal and Chelsea are set to miss out on the 25-year-old who has also been named as their top transfer taget for this summer.

In light of the likely setback in their pursuit of Osimhen, the Premier League sides must turn their attention to alternative targets to address their need for a world-class number nine.

Among the names being considered are RB Leipzigs Benjamin Sesko, Brentfords Ivan Toney, Osimhens compatriot at Bayer Leverkusen Victor Boniface, and Sporting CP hitman Viktor Gyokeres. (The PUNCH)
