UNIZIK VC, Prof Esimone

The Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK or NAU), Awka Anambra State, Prof Charles Esimone, has said that his interest is on finding lasting solutions to various challenges facing the university and not who succeeds him
He said he has no power to impose any person as vice Chancellor of the Institution.
Esimone's reaction in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr Emma Ojukwu on Monday was prompted by a social media report which alleged that the outgoing Vice Chancellor is planning to impose someone as his replacement against the wishes of many in the institution.
According to the report, stakeholders in the university are calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu To Investigate the Outgoing VC, Esimone’s Tenure in the university.
Esimone in the statement said: “My interest is to leave a united university Community where academic and research are core priority.
“As I prepare to vacate office in early June, it is my wish to leave office with a united university.
“I have no anointed person to succeed me. I have no power to impose a successor.”
The VC further pledged to cooperate with whoever emerges as Acting Vice Chancellor in the interest of peace and unity of the university
