President Bola Tinubu signing a document
President Bola Tinubu has approved a six-month extension of service for the Head of the Civil Service of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) for six months with effect from Wednesday, March 27.
The new FCT Head of Service, Atang Udo Samuel attained the mandatory age of sixty (60) years on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.
According to a document signed by the Chief of Staff to the FCT Minister, Chidi Amadi, the extension is to stabilize the ongoing process of repositioning the administrative structure of the FCT Civil Service Commission.
The letter tagged: Re: Request for extension of service for the Head of the Civil Service of the FCT Administration, reads in part: “I am directed to refer to the above subject matter and to inform you that His Excellency, the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has graciously approved the extension of your service for a period of six (6) months with effect from Wednesday, 27th March, 2024 when you would have attained the mandatory age of sixty (60) years.
“The extension of your service is premised on the need to stabilize and consolidate the ongoing processes to reposition the administrative structure of the FCT Administration occasioned by the recent inauguration of the FCT Civil Service Commission. Accept the assurances of the Hon. Minister’s regards, please,” it said.
It will be recalled that a few weeks back President Bola Tinubu approved the appointment of a Head of Service, Permanent Secretaries in the nine Secretariats of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, and other members of the FCT Civil Service Commission.
The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike had, in October 2023, announced that he had received the approval of the President for the establishment of the Civil Service Commission of the Federal Capital Territory. (The Nation)
