Governor Soludo
By PAMELA EBOH, Awka
Indications are rife that the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, may soon be letting go of some of his cabinet members.
This is coming barely two days after he celebrated second year anniversary of his administration.
Sources in the corridors of power who spoke with News Express on the condition of anonymity said that the rumour in this regard making the rounds in the state is true.
According to one of the sources, the governor had earlier on assumption of office said that he will rejig his cabinet after two years.
Another source said that the governor would want to inject new blood in the system during the second half of his government for sociopolitical reasons.
The source who doesn't want his name in print because he had not been authorized to speak on the matter, said that even during the appointments of the serving Commissioners and other aides they were told that their tenure would base on their performance.
The source said: “You know Soludo is bent on getting maximum result for Ndi Anambra; so non-performing Commissioners and Aides will not continue. New blood will be injected into the system for maximum productivity.
“Besides, you know that there will be a governorship election in the state next year. That election will require the appointments of real politicians into the cabinet and other strategic places not technocrats as presently constituted. So, many things will change and many people will go.”
In his reaction, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Soludo, Christian Aburime, said: “I’m not aware and I’ve not been briefed by the Governor of any cabinet reshuffle, so I can’t make any comment on that.”
Meanwhile, there is palpable fear amongst commissioners and other aides of the governor as they await the news of the sledge hammer.
