Gov. Hyacinth Alia of Benue, has made nominations for the positions of chairman and members of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).

This is contained in a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Tersoo Kula, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi on Thursday.

According to the statement, the nominees’ names have been submitted to the State House of Assembly for confirmation, where they would serve the commission for the next four years, if confirmed.

He listed those nominated as Dr John Chen, Chairman, Terhemen Shom, Theodore Iordye, Solomon Aikighe, Isaac Edache, Gloria Clement, and Peter Ogagbolo as members while Dr Vincent Gisaor is nominated as Secretary.

The governor expressed confidence in the nominees’ qualifications, given their proven track records.

While stressing the importance of their role in overseeing elections within the local government areas of the state, the governor urged them to prioritise fairness and justice in their duties.

He also admonished them to always consider the interests of the state above their own. (NAN)
