Wike and Fubara
The Rivers State Governor, Siminilayi Fubara was conspicuously absent as Political loyalists to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Sunday regrouped in Buguma community in Asari Toru local government area of Rivers State in solidarity to the coronation of Dr. Dax George Kelly as the new Head of the Diagbani group of Houses.
Wike used the occasion to describe the traditional institution as a vital key in the development of any society and that Rivers State could not be an exception.
The FCT Minister who spoke at the reception to mark the coronation of Dr DaxGeorge Kelly who was coronated as Chief Diagbani (Fred) George Amachree II,Head of Diagbani Amachree group of houses, expressed confidence in the ability of Dr Kelly to unite his people and attract development to his domain.
“Use your position for the interest of your people. Do not use your position to divide your people but use it to unite them. Use it to bring development to your people, knowing you very well, I believe you will do the right thing,” Wike said.
The Minister described Dr. Kelly as “a dependable friend and ally”, adding that as a “first class brain and one of those you can give an assignment and go and sleep because he will never disappoint”.
He enjoined the newly crowned Diagbani Amachree group of Houses that “this is yet another important assignment, to keep villages and communities together is not an easy task.
“You have been given another onerous task to keep the values and culture of your people when education and modernisation is trying to take away all our culture. It’s a very high assignment but I know you are equal to the task.”
It will be recalled that Dr George Kelly who is one of the nine returning Commissioners to theGovernor Siminilayi Fubara government was a two time Commissioner in the administration of former Governor Nyesom Wike.
The Minister was accompanied by a large entourage of dignitaries across party lines, to attend the event including
Rt Hon Martin Amaehule, Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Chief Hon Victor Giadom, National Vice Chairman APC, South South, RT Hon Chibudum Nwuche, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Tony Okocha, Chairman of Rivers State APC,
Ambassador Desmond Akawor, former Chairman of Rivers State PDP and Hon Ojukaye Flag Amhacree, former APC state Party Chairman.
