File photo of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu appearing at the Supreme Court
The Supreme Court has released the Certified True Copy (CTC) of its ruling on Nnamdi Kanu, said Aloy Ejimakor, one of the lawyers to the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Ejimakor said the court also promised to transmit the case file to the Federal High Court by Tuesday.
Last week, Kanu’s family decried the Supreme Court’s delay in the release of the CTC of its ruling on Kanu’s matter.
The Supreme Court had on December 15, 2023, set aside the ruling of the Appeal Court which had in its earlier verdict, set the IPOB leader free from the terrorism charges slammed against him by the Federal Government.
The apex court ruled that instead, Kanu should be tried at the appropriate court.
Kanu’s family had said the non-release of the CTC by the Supreme Court jeopardised further legal moves the family could have taken.
However, on Monday, Ejimakor said, “Today, the Supreme Court released the CTC of its judgment in ‘Federal Republic of Nigeria versus Nnamdi Kanu’.
“The Court also promised to transmit the case file to the Federal High Court by tomorrow (Tuesday). Sooner than later, we shall lock horns at the Federal High Court to #FreeMNK.” (Channels TV: Text, Excluding Headline)
