One of the Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State may have gotten the nod to clinch the Deputy Governorship Seat in the state after the former Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was sworn in as the Governor of the state following the demise of former Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.

Hon. (Dr) Thomas Akinwolere Babajide, popularly known as APATA, is a strong voice for the youths in Ondo State, who also strongly supported the presidential ambitions of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the election campaign period.

He Is the Director General of the Coalition of Support Groups for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (COSGABAT), with over 300 support groups nationwide under his watch.

Dr Babajide hails from Ondo Central Senatorial District, precisely Ondo Town of Ondo West, which is seen as crucial and has always determined where the pendulum swings in terms of election results in the history of Ondo State.

More importantly, he is a young man who is under the age of 40 but has gathered incredible experience in governance.

Babajide has also worked actively and supported the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State and at the national level. He was a member of the AKETI/AIYEDATIWA campaign council in 2019 and also a member of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council in 2023.

The odds may be in favour of Dr Babajide emerging as Deputy Governor of Ondo State within the next few weeks, as the Governor is being urged to consider a young person from Ondo Town precisely.

Dr Babajide also reportedly has the endorsement of the President as well as the backing of APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. (Nigerian Tribune)
