A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, Hon. Odefa Obasi Odefa, has officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Odefa defected alongside about 500 of his supporters from the Onicha East Constituency of the state.

Speaking on Wednesday, Odefa said his decision to pitch tent with the APC was to rally round the Governor in his concerted efforts to transform the State having studied his good intentions as captured in the People’s Charter of Needs manifesto.

Responding, the Governor, Right Honourable Francis Nwifuru, said the door of the All Progressives Congress, APC was wide open to accommodate all well-intentioned individuals into the party.

While assuring the defectors that they would be availed level playing field in the APC, Governor Nwifuru called on them to join hands with him to develop the State.

It would be recalled that Right Honourable Odefa Obasi Odefa represented Onicha East in the State House of Assembly from 2007 to 2023.
