Policemen and operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have prevented the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) supporters in Kano from observing special prayer.

Daily Trust reports that there was an outrage that led to a clash between the party supporters and the police after they observed a similar activity on Wednesday evening.

They (the supporters) had taken to the street to demand justice regarding the contradiction in the Appeal Court’s Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgement on Kano Governorship election.

While the judges sacked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, a page of the CTC declared him the winner.

But on Thursday, the supporters were denied access to the Filin Mahaha, venue of the prayers.

Rather than leave the venue, the supporters moved to the opposite Kofar Na’isa from where they were monitoring the security operatives.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, to comment on the development were not successful.

But the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, DSC Idris Abdullahi, told our reporter that the deployment of the operatives was to ensure non-breach of law and order in the state.

He said, “The development is connected to what is happening in the State with regards to the Appeal Court judgement and issues around it. This is why security was intensified to ensure that law and order were not breached.” (Daily Trust)
