The Social Democratic Party said it was not responsible for the killing of the APC woman leader during a violence that occurred in kotonkarfi , kogi state last weekend.

Addressing newsmen yesterday the SDP Gubernatorial Campaign Council said the party was been terrorized every day by the ruling party saying the party duly obtained permit to organize the rally from all the relevant security agencies including the police and wondered why the police commissioner, Bethrand Onuoha was playing double standard.

It urged the Presidency, National. Assembly and Inspector General of Police to as a matter of urgency set up a panel of enquiry to investigate the political violence.

The Director General of Kogi East Muri /Abenemi Gubernatorial Campaign Council, Hassan Yakubu Enape while addressing journalists , decried the press statement of the Kogi State Commissioner of Police describing the SDP candidate as a truant and lawless as unfortunate adding that the CP was already taking side with the ruling party.

He said contrary to the Cp it was the APC thugs that disrupted their rally shooting sporadically to disperse their supporters who were already at the venue of the tally saying several of the party members sustained injuries during the shooting.

He stated In a political dispensation , it is incumbent for everybody to campaign , noting that the Social Democratic Party is working in accordance with law.

”We are guided by the section of the Electoral Law by the gathering at Koton Karfe as Section( 9) 21 stated how to operate to be able to hold a rally. This was what we did.We had officially applied to all the security agencies and they gave us the go ahead “, he stated.

He explained that a subsisting order of interlocutory injunction given by a federal high court has already restrained the police from inviting it’s candidate for questioning and wondered why the Cp was feigning ignorance of it.

Enape explained that the police commissioner was already biased stressing that the SDP has no confidence in the police in conducting the November 11 governorship election.

But in a swift reaction , spokesman of theAPC Governorship campaign Council , Kingsley Fanwo said if they were not afraid why did they refuse to honour police invitation to explain their own side of the story.

“We reported to the Police and other security agencies. And we have reported to the world and given a graphic narrative of how the SDP thugs killed a member of our party.

“Thankfully, the Police have released their preliminary reports and the SDP candidate should honour the invitation of security agencies to explain why its thugs killed the innocent Kotonkarfe woman and left the entire community mourning” . He added (Daily Sun)
