Pioneer Executive President of National Association of Presidential Amnesty Scholarship Students Worldwide (NAPASW), Snr. Comrade, Lucky O. Ukueku, has advised the Federal Government and the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) against the decision to scrap the university scholarship programme for ex-militants and agitators from the Niger Delta.

It was gathered that the federal government and the Interim Administrator, were making moves to suspend the ex-militants, agitators’ university scholarship programme.

Ukueku, in a statement, made available to News Express said the contemplated action may create a lacuna that may affect the educational growth process of the Niger Delta region, with its attendant negative effect to its people.

“This, to a great extent, will give light and clear picture to what is given priority and how important the education of the region is, as against other areas.

“In comparison to what is perceived in other regions, we mustn’t be seen as encouraging anything less of education, at the least. Sound and proper education remains the key to improved developmental strides in any given state.

“I once again appeal that the leadership should reconsider its decision on the suspension of scholarship programme,” Ukueke said.
