Ozekhome SAN and other lawyers sleeping at the tribunal
Nigerians on social media have continued to reactdifferently to the trending images of lawyers dozing off during the ongoing Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) sitting at the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
It was earlier reported that Vice President Kashim Shettima, the National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, among other top politicians, had earlier arrived at the PEPC sitting at the Court of Appeal for the judgment in the three petitions challenging the declaration of Bola Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election.
In some viral pictures circulating on social media, lawyers present at the sitting were captured dozing off during the ongoing proceedings of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.
Since the images went viral, Nigerians have taken to the popular social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express their mixed reactions to the development.
While some attribute it to supernatural forces, others opine that the act is an indication that the lawyers have given up on the judiciary system of the country.
Reacting, an X user @Dr penkingwrote, “At a point where they were needed most, they slept.”
Another user, @Egorose183263tweeted,“Bro, I don’t think this is ordinary. Juju, go plenty.”
@Mimi_Efombruhwrote, “What did they sprinkle in the courtroom? Everybody is sleeping.”
@Kelvingrate042tweeted, “They already know these judges are scam and listening to them is a waste of time.”
@Chude_wrote, “The fact that most of the lawyers have been sleeping shows that they have also given up on the judiciary. Only Nigerians can save Nigeria.”
“They are tired of this situation called Nigeria.” @iykephilipsopined. (Tribune)
