A popular hotelier in Sapele, Delta State, has been reportedly beaten to death by his two children over a side chic. The victim, Emekeme Joseph, popularly known as Semikolo, was the Chairman of Covenant Suites, a hotel chain in Sapele, and a Deacon of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners Chapel) before meeting his untimely death last week.

A report byUrhobo Today, a grassroots portal, quoted a reliable source as disclosing that “the man fell gravely ill after his sons assaulted him.” According to the report, the man’s two graduate sons allegedly caught their father with a side chic and demanded a million naira bribe or they would inform their mother, who was at the time holidaying in the United States of America. The man called their bluff “and true to their threat they reported the sleazy affair to their mother, who was incensed”.

“The next day the father dropped by at the Coca Cola depot of the wife and when the sons saw him they hounded him out of the place,” the portal reported.

It quoted insiders as disclosing that Semikolo “angrily went home and seized the keys of the cars of the sons, which drew their ire and they descended on him with blows and kicks. He called the police and the boys broke the head of one of the policemen.”

Consequently, according toUrhobo Today, the boys were arrested and the father was rushed to a local hospital, from where he was referred to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) in neighbouring Edo State, where he was in a coma until he was discharged “against doctor’s advice” and died at home.
