The President, Voters Rights Association of Nigeria (VRAN), Dr. Jezie Ekejiuba, has called on Nigerians to support the inauguration of President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu come May 29, 2023.

He enjoined them to also support Tinubu with prayers to succeed pending the hearing and determination of the suits against his election.

Making this plea in a statement to News Express, Ekejiuba said that VRAN supports both the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate and President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu as duly declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Labour Party (LP) Candidate Peter Obi who is currently seeking to reclaim his mandate at the Presidential Election Tribunal Court.

He said: “My Suit marked FHC/AWK/CS/198/2022 Between Dr. Jezie Ekejiuba v. FGN & 4 ORS seeking to enforce my right to freedom from discrimination (political discrimination) and nullification of the participation of the PDP Candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar from the 2023 Presidential election was finally heard on May 23, 2023 whereby the parties adopted their respective Final Written Addresses accordingly adjourned to July 4, 2023 for Judgment.

“The Honourable Court was urged to hold that by the combined provision of Sections 42 (1) (b), 14(3) and 318 of the amended 1999 Constitution of Nigeria which indirectly provided for rotational Presidency of Nigeria between the citizens of Southern and Northern Nigeria, the Applicant is entitled to the protection of his fundamental right to freedom from discrimination enshrined in Section 42(1) (b) of the constitution which guaranteed him the right to be accorded a privilege or advantage to have a sense of belonging to the nation as defined by Section 318 of the constitution.

“All Nigerians are hereby enjoined to support the Presidential inauguration of President-elect Tinubu on May 29, 2023 and thereafter support him with prayers to succeed pending the hearing and determination of Obi’s substantive matter.

“Let the Rule of law govern our affairs for peace to reign in the country.”
