A member of the All Progressive Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC), Prince Nixon Okwara, has called on the APC leadership to zone the Presidency of the 10th Senate to the Southeast.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen during the weekend, Okwara, who is also the Facilitator/Director General of Grow Orlu Project, stressed that if the zoning of the 10th President was not conceded to the Southeast, it implies that all those who were killed in the zone for campaigning for Bola Ahmed Tinubu in particular and APC in general, died in vain.

Recall that recently Captain Tony Enoch (Rtd), the Grow Orlu Project Coordinator of all the 12 Coordinators that make up Orlu zone was assassinated on his way from an APC stakeholders meeting in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State.

Okwara said that apart from the slain captain who was also a member of APC PCC and also doubled as the Chairman of Asiwaju Campaign Organization in Oru East, where the President-elect got massive votes, many other APC faithful in the Southeast died over the same cause.

According to him, apart from the tripod on which Nigeria was founded, some people in the Southeast have paid the supreme sacrifice for APC and, as such, should not be allowed to die in vain.

He said that going by the experience of the out-going federal government which has left Nigerians more divided than united, the best way for the Tinubu administration to start, should be by inclusion, rather than exclusion.

Speaking further, he said that those agitating that the Senate President should not be zoned to the Southeast because they did not vote for APC in the just concluded general election, were enemies of the country.

According to him, what the incoming administration should be concerned about was how to unite Nigerians since a people united can never be defeated.

He said that it was only fair and just that Nigeria begins by zoning the third highest political office to the Southeast since the West and North have taken President and Vice President, respectively.

“Those of us who campaigned and worked for Asiwaju in the Southeast are now endangered species. Many have been killed. Many have fled their states and even the country for the fear of their lives. So, I am appealing to the leadership of APC to zone the position of the President of the 10th to the Southeast. If this is not done, it implies that these people that have been killed for campaigning for Asiwaju and APC died in vain and it will not encourage others to step into their shoes,” Okwara said.
