Sokoto State Governor-elect, Ahmad Aliyu
A United States-based business tycoon and philanthropist, Chief Dr Magdalene Nwaka Agada, has praised Sokoto State Governor-elect, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu, for developing a nine-point agenda ahead of his inauguration on May 29, describing it as being “well-articulated and poised to fast-track the development of the state”.
Mrs. Agada, President and Founder of Open Hands Amazing Charitable Organization New York USA and UK, said in a statement issued on Monday that having studied the backgrounds, track records and manifestoes of the various candidates for the recent governorship election, she was convinced that Sokoto people made the right choice in electing Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu as their next governor.
“I have taken my time to reflect deeply on the manifesto of the Governor-elect, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu, and I am convinced that his nine-point agenda will uplift the people of Sokoto State and fast-track the development of the state.
“Apparently, much critical thinking went into the formulation of this nine-point agenda that include uplifting the standards of education, healthcare delivery and water supply. Others are agriculture, security, youth empowerment, local government autonomy, religious affairs and economy,” Mrs. Agada, President of leading medical equipment merchants, Star Global Marketing Limited, said.
She appealed to the people of Sokoto State to give their full support and cooperation to the incoming administration of Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu to enable it achieve its lofty plans for the state.
A technocrat and seasoned politician, Ahmad Aliyu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won the March 18 governorship election with 453,661 votes against his closest rival, Sa’idu Umar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who got 404,632 votes.
