Senator Izunaso
Igbo stakeholders’ Forum, Lagos, has reiterated its support for Senator Osita Izunaso as the President of the 10th Senate.
In a statement issued by the Chairman of the Forum, Prince Nixon Okwara, the group said that as a registered organization founded in 2014, they have been at the forefront of the campaign for Nigeria’s unity.
According to him, they have also been working with the ruling party in Lagos state to achieve this, the more reason why they went all out to endorse and support Bola Ahmed Tinubu, irrespective of the non-partisan position of the association.
Prince Okwara said that one of the major reasons for supporting Tinubu was as a result of their firm belief in his leadership prowess to unite the country and build a common identity for the nation.
“We are happy that he finally emerged, and a new Nigeria is in the making. We understand perfectly the importance of unity in Nigeria as nothing much can be achieved without peace. We, therefore, call for zoning the Senate President to the South and particularly to Senate Osita Izunaso as a panacea to bringing peace to the region and also integrating the entire Southeast into the party, APC.
Our reason for endorsing Senator Osita Izunaso, apart from his experience, character, and educational background, he is also well-accepted across the Southeast region particularly and Nigeria generally. His Senate Presidency will also influence Ndigbo in Lagos to join the APC party. He represents the new breed and youth that Ndigbo want. He is virtually a well-respected patron across all Igbo elite and markets associations,” the statement read in part.
According to Okwara, it was the group’s firm belief that the President-elect would promote equity, fairness, and justice to the tripodal structure of Nigeria, adding that this would surely be a stepping stone to peace, unity, and progress in Nigeria.
