Ebonyi State PPRO, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya
By CHARLES IWUOHA
The Police in Ebonyi State has restricted human and vehicular movements in the seven local government areas of the state, ahead of Saturday’s April 15, 2023 supplementary polls.
This is contained in a press statement issued in Abakaliki on Friday by the Command Public Relations Officer, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, and made available to journalists.
The statement quoted the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Faleye Olaleye, as saying that the restrictions are in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.
Olaleye said the restriction of all vehicular movements on the roads is from midnight on Friday to 6pm on Saturday across all the seven Local Government Areas of the State.
The affected local government areas include; Abakaliki, Afikpo North, Afikpo South, Ezza North, Ezza South, Ikwo and Ivo LGAs.
“This order exempts those on essential services such as election observers, accredited media, ambulances, firefighters, etc.
“Members of the public are seriously warned to adhere strictly to this restriction order and any person or group of persons found instigating violence or violating this order will be dealt with decisively,” Olaleye warned.
The Commissioner, however, assured residents of Ebonyi State that the police will collaborate effectively with other sister security agencies and the leadership of INEC to ensure a safe and secure space for citizens to freely exercise their franchise.
