Blame yourself for your defeat, PDP chieftain tells Nnamani

Chimaroke Nnamani

A former National Auditor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ray Nnaji, has asked former Enugu State Governor, Chimaroke Nnamani, to act with decorum and blame himself for his defeat in last Saturday’s senatorial election in Enugu East.

Nnaji stated that he would have been surprised if Nnamani, who, he said, ran without a political party, had won the election, stressing that Nnamani failed the election even before the first vote was cast.

Nnaji, a lawyer and former Commissioner in the state under the Nnamani administration, stated that throwing punches and accusations against the Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the PDP and even the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, and his supporters over his senatorial election loss would expose him to more ridicule and portray him as someone without shame.

Nnaji stated: “You should understand the kind of person Nnamani is. His failure is making him feel bad. Unfortunately, he failed to realise that he failed even before the election. I thought he would have made reference to me, because I was the one that started the process that led to his expulsion. He had failed before anything. He went into the election without any platform, because the party did not have a candidate for Enugu East senatorial election.”

On the allegation that Ugwuanyi contributed to his failure, Nnaji said: “He is supposed to thank Ugwuanyi for bringing him back after being in limbo for a long time. A second opportunity was given to him and he did not utilise it well. He should desist from these attacks, as they tend to destroy him the more if there is any credibility left in him.” (The Guardian)
