Rep member Chinedu Ogah
By CHARLES IWUOHA
The Ebonyi chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has warned the ruling-All Progressives Congress (APC) to cease from threatening and intimidating opposition supporters in the state.
This was as the party alleged that no fewer than eight of its supporters have gone missing in the Amagu and Ndiagu communities in the Ikwo Local Government Area of the state.
A reliable source in the area, who pleaded anonymity said supporters of opposition politicians in the two communities were on Saturday, being forced to vote against their will in the area, by the APC.
According to the source, there was a grand plot to abduct opposition politicians and their supporters in the communities.
The Publicity Secretary of APGA in the state, Mr Nwanchor Nwanchor, confirmed the development.
He said: “Information emerging from Ndiagu Amagu 1 and Ndiagu Amagu 2, both in Ikwo Local Government Area, indicates that Mr. Chinedu Ogah, representing Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency, has ordered the abduction of opposition supporters in the area.
”Presently, 8 supporters of APGA and PDP have been reported missing. Gunmen under the command and control of Ogah have been terrorising residents of Amagu in his attempt to enforce one party (APC) voting rule in the area.
“Citizens who have expressed preference for candidates of other political parties have been under immense pressure and intimidation to cast their votes for Ogah’s APC. As his oppressive and dictatorial leadership since he won a House of Representatives seat at the tribunal a couple of years ago continues to crush ordinary citizens of his Amagu community, the coalition of opposition political parties in Ebonyi State is calling on the military to visit the area as a matter of urgency to avert a bloodbath.”
The Police in the state through its Public Relations officer (PPRO), SP Chris Anyanwu, denied such allegation, saying such report had not got to the command.
“Good afternoon. No report of such before me.
“Although there is election in the area, I will try and find out, please.”
Also, when contacted, the Personal Assistant to Chinedu Ogah, Charles Iteshi, swiftly debunked the allegation, saying it was politically-motivated.
According to him, his boss was a peaceful politician and could not have been involved in such acts.
While urging the public to discountenance such accusation, he noted that the target was to smear the image of the lawmaker.
“My brother, such is a political statement orchestrated by politicians because they are not happy with the achievements of my boss.
“He’s a peaceful politician and as we speak, election is ongoing in all parts of Ikwo and so, there is nothing like that. This is a mere propaganda. So, ignore such Facebook posts and fabrications.”
