A former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, Hon. Anayo Edwin Nwonu, has thrown his weight behind the party's gubernatorial flagbearer, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, in the upcoming election in the state.

Nwonu, currently a member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing Ezza North/ lshielu federal Constituency, said he decided to join forces with the Governorship Candidate, Odii to contribute his quota for PDP to win the National Assembly and Governorship Elections in the state.

The ranking lawmaker joined Odii with over 50,000 supporters spread across the 171 wards in Ebonyi State.

The two-term legislature, a grassroots politician, said he is convinced that the PDP governorship candidate, Odii, has all it takes to win the election on 11th March 2023.

He called on all Ebonyians to support Odii for the liberation of Ebonyi state from the clutches of underdevelopment and poverty, noting that the 2023 General Elections in the state would provide an opportunity for peace and brotherliness to be restored in the public governance of the state.

Speaking, the PDP governorship candidate, Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, lauded Nwonu for his noble decision to join forces with him to rescue Ebonyi state from obscurity into positive development and assured him that his experience as a grassroots politician and business mogul would be highly appreciated in the mass movement of Ebonyians who have come together to ensure that PDP reclaims its mandate in the state.

The meeting between the two top politicians, which lasted for more than two hours was held at the Campaign Office of the lawmaker in Abakaliki.

Political Analysts in the state have argued that the endorsement of Odii by the Lawmaker was highly significant as nearly all those who contested the 2022 PDP Governorship Primaries in the state, have decided to come together to close ranks to enable the party to emerge victorious in the 2023 elections.
