Some residents of Agbor and Owa towns have hailed the General Overseer of Fire and Miracle Power Holy Ghost Church, Agbor, Apostle Michael Ugbom, for embarking on selfless service to the people in the locality.

Over the years, Apostle Ugbom has taken it upon himself to assist in controlling traffic at Old Lagos-Asaba Road, especially in the morning.

Those who spoke to Delta State News Bulletin described Ugbom as a good man that deserved to be recognized and honoured.

According to the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comrade Christian Izegede, the gesture was very commendable and could only come from an individual with a heart of gold.

“I believe what he is doing is his own little way of contributing to societal growth and development. This speaks volumes, being a clergy, he is practicing what he preaches.

“Our society will be a better place when prominent people in the land embark on such voluntary and sacrificial activities,” he stated.

Also speaking, Mrs. Uche Acha, stated that Apostle Ugbom, had always been passionate about controlling traffic on the ever-busy portion of the Old Lagos-Asaba Road.

“I used to think he was a public servant like the military until recently. Even when police officers are around, he will still be around to help out, he is even more regular at the spot than those who are supposed to be there,” she stated.

Speaking with Apostle Michael Ugbom after one of the voluntary exercises at the traffic light, located along the Old Lagos-Asaba Road, Agbor where he normally comes every morning to assist the traffic workers in enforcing the traffic laws, he noted that it gave him joy to help in making life easy for others.

According to him, each time they passed through the Old Lagos-Asaba Road, they felt bad about how people were suffering, struggling with one another, due the level of lawlessness to the traffic rules and regulations.

“It hurts me that people are not really taught the implications of disobeying the traffic laws. I have discovered that a lot of people in Ika and its environs, who call themselves drivers do not know how to drive of ride.

“They usually get confused when they get into the traffic clusters, I then decided to be coming out every morning to assist the traffic workers to ensure the safety of the people's lives and properties," he stated.

He disclosed that one thing that encouraged him to start doing the voluntary work was because he loved saving lives and adding values to the life of others.

“I want to use this platform to advise members of the public to respect the traffic workers no matter the size of that person because they are doing what the government asked them to do in order to save lives,” he said.
